Silver gelatin dry plate glass negative in landscape format. The image depicts Railway Square near Central Station, Sydney. the lower left corner of the negative which contains the caption is missing. The electric tramways at Railway Square are depicted in the foreground of the image. The '826' Balmain tram is depicted on the left side of the image. Two other trams can also be seen. Parts of horsedrawn vehicles are also depicted. Numerous pedestrians can be seen and people can be seen entering the '826' tram. Some of the women depicted in the image are carrying parasols. A signal box is depicted in railay square. The background of the image depicts the commercial urban environment of the city. Identifiable buildings in George Street include: 'Murcotts Railway Family Hotel', 'The Grand Hotel', Christ Church St Laurence and the Marcus Clark and Co building.
